A digital board game on your dinner table
Hey everyone! Here are 5 things attracting attention in the immersive Internet:
#1: An AR board game you can play remotely
Remember when people were playing board games & card games via zoom during the early days of the pandemic? With this new game, holographic images appear on the table in front of you. You can play with people in the same room, or you can play with people from afar — with everyone seeing the same game on their own table.
#2: Live improv in VR
In this video, two improv actors use VR to interact as animated characters. It’s part of an interesting trend: With VR, anyone can pretend to be an animated character, where the character’s voice & movement maps to your own.
#3: Read my lips
As part of a master’s thesis, YouTuber Ghostt showcased face-tracking capabilities within VRChat. The avatars in this video are controlled by real people in real time, similar to the improv actors above.
#4: A homemade VR treadmill
It’s simultaneously funny and impressive. According to the Reddit user who created it, the treadmill is made of “Just Some old Scrap Wood, A Bicycle Seat, and Some dirt cheap Support Straps and The Cybershoes Setup of Course.”
#5: Dance it up
This video has 23 million views on TikTok (and counting). TikToker @banglihn2k3 is playing the VR game OnShape, where you dance and contort your body in time with the music.
See you next time!
